Essex Wedding Venues
With The Wow
 Factor

The county of Essex has the highest number of wedding venues in the country to suit all tastes and budgets, so you really are spoiled for choice. Here we share with you (in no particular order) a small selection of venues that are sure to make your wedding photos look amazing.

Gosfield Hall

Gosfield Hall is the epitome of a country house wedding venue, with the added bonus of being a former Royal Residence for Queen Elizabeth I. As such, the luxurious rooms are no surprise having been designed with royalty in mind.

Prested Hall

A beautiful 15th century part-moated manor house, Prested Hall is probably one of the best kept secrets when it comes to Essex wedding venues.  Set in 75 acres of beautiful parkland, Prested Hall is relaxing, stylish and peaceful. With 14 bedrooms there is also plenty of space for you and your guests to stay overnight.

Leez Priory

Nestled in the Essex countryside is the Tudor Mansion known as Leez Priory which was founded as an Augustinian priory in about 1220 by Sir Ralph Gernon. In 1536 the priory was suppressed during Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries and the property was granted to Sir Richard Rich, one of the King’s key advisors.

Wivenhoe House

A fascinating history stretches back to 1759 when Isaac Rebow asked Thomas Reynolds to build the mansion house, which is now Grade II listed. Set in the grounds of Wivenhoe Park the hotel and surroundings were immortalised in canvas by renowned British artist John Constable, when he was commissioned by the then owner Major-General Francis Slater Rebow in 1816.

Colchester Town Hall

Colchester Town Hall is a beautiful and historic building that is a popular wedding venue in Essex. It is located in the heart of Colchester town centre

Langtons Registry Office

In our opinion, few registry offices can compare with Langtons in Hornchurch, Essex. As soon as you walk through the front door you can see and feel that this is not your average Registry Office. This is definitely not the generic, boring flatly decorated registry office many of us are familiar with. Steeped in history, this grade II listed building may just be the wedding venue of your dreams.

In 1989 Alan Jordan planted the Bardfield Vineyard which produces a range of award winning wines. In 2014 his daughter Rebecca opened the magnificent Grade 1 Anne of Cleves Barn as a wedding and event venue and more recently they have converted the Great Lodge Barns in to stylish holiday accommodation.

Set in the beautiful valley of Crondon, with stunning views across the Essex countryside and our championship golf course - Crondon Park has established an outstanding reputation as a premier venue in Essex and the UK.

Channels Estate

Two fabulous locations, two stunning venues. Channels is a picturesque Little Waltham, Essex-situated wedding venue. This beautifully-restored 17th-century thatched barn provides an idyllic setting for a special occasion. Set in tranquil surroundings, you will enjoy its large outside areas, babbling fountains, and an avenue of mature trees. The property can comfortably accommodate events with up to 120 standing or 90 seated guests. Whether you want an intimate occasion or an extravagant celebration, the staff here aims to help you bring your vision to life. The Waltham Barn is a restored mid 19th century working farm, and perfect for smaller, relaxed intimate weddings.

Hedingham Castle

The castle itself is nearly 900 years old, even the house is impressive at over 300 years old.

No words can convey the rich history this venue encapsulates, from the grounds with their defensive ramparts to the sweeping views across lake, from the castle to the manor house, history is everywhere you look. You can feel it hugging you at every turn.
