Layer Marney Tower - Essex Wedding Venue

Layer Marney Tower is England's tallest Tudor Gatehouse and is situated in Essex with views over the River Blackwater and beyond. Built in the reign of Henry VIII by Lord Marney, another Henry, Layer Marney Tower is a statement house, that shows its original owner was rich, powerful and a friend of the King.

At Layer Marney you have the best of both worlds, whether you want your ceremony inside the beautiful buildings with a choice of 3 rooms depending on the number of guests you are having or you have your heart set on a church wedding. St Mary The Virgin is right next door to Layer Marney and there is a lovely short walk from the church to your reception.

St Mary The Virgin is right next door to Layer Marney and after confetti and a few photos there is a lovely short walk for your guests from the church to your reception.

And whilst your wedding guests make the short walk, you get to take a ride in Layer Marney's vintage Rolls Royce giving you both a little alone time after the excitement of your wedding ceremony before joining your guests on the steps for your drinks reception and group photographs.

You can then leave your guests for a short while to enjoy the beautiful grounds and make their way indoors for your wedding breakfast, whilst you have a break away from everything and have your private photographs taken.

You are then free to join your guests for your wedding breakfast in the Long Gallery

Once the meal and speeches are over you and your guests move into the bar area whilst the room is re-set for the evening celebrations. This is also a great time for another confetti opportunity on the grand staircase.

Now it is time to get the evening party started with your first dance

Maybe followed by a final photo outside as it gets dark

If you are still confused by the huge amount of choice available, then why not take a look at another of our blog posts here, all about choosing your wedding venue.
