How To Choose Your Wedding Colour Palette

A wedding day is something many of us have dreamed about for a long time, but we don't always know what colours we want to use. Here we share with you advice and inspiration to help you make that all important decision for choosing your wedding colour palette.

Consider the season of your wedding. Different colours are associated with different seasons, so choosing colours that complement the time of year will create a cohesive look. For example, pastels are popular for spring and summer weddings, while jewel tones are more common for autumn and winter weddings.

Think about your venue. The colours of your venue can also influence your colour palette. For example, if you're getting married in a garden, you might want to choose soft, natural colours like greens and blues. If you're getting married in a ballroom, you might want to choose bolder colours like reds and golds. If your venue has lots of wood panelling, think about light airy colours to lift the rooms, or embrace the warmth of the wood with strong, rich colours.

Pay attention to your personal style. Your wedding colours should reflect your personality and style. If you're a classic person, you might want to choose timeless colours like black, white, and navy. If you're more adventurous, you might want to choose brighter, more unexpected colours. I always knew I would never wear a white wedding dress, it just isn't me. so mine was burgundy velvet with gold Celtic knotwork embroidery which fitted perfectly with our November wedding.

Don't be afraid to mix and match. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to wedding colour palettes. You can mix and match different colours to create a unique look that's all your own.

Get inspired. There are many resources available to help you get inspired for your wedding colour palette. Look at magazines, websites, and Pinterest for ideas. You can also take a trip to a paint store or fabric store to see different colour combinations in person.

Take your time. Don't rush into choosing your wedding colour palette. Spend some time thinking about what you want and what will look best for your wedding. Once you've found a few palettes that you like, ask for feedback from friends, family, or your wedding planner.
