Our Top 9 Wedding Trend Predictions For 2023

Updated: Oct 19, 2022

This year, 2022 will always be remembered as the year weddings returned to a kind of normal after the pandemic. There has been a definite shift towards more intimate celebrations and focusing on your guests and how you include them in your wedding day.

Here we share our predictions for what 2023 may have to offer.

1. Micro Weddings

A micro wedding is considered to be one with 40 or fewer guests which has been a necessity of recent years. Out of this necessity has risen a number of couples who are now wanting only their nearest and dearest to celebrate with them, rather than the whole clan including distant aunts and uncles and second cousins twice removed. Venues such as Forrester Park Golf Club and Hedingham Castle can cater for all sizes of weddings.

2. Neutral, Black & White Colour Tones

The drama of black and white photography is seeing a huge surge at the moment and as a result black bridesmaid dresses against a white wedding dress create strong contrasts for more dramatic wedding photography. If you are wanting black and white wedding images then consider your venue carefully. If you have strong colours for your wedding parties attire you may want to look at venues with paler interior decor to contrast and make you stand out more. Both Parklands, Quendon Hall and Colchester Town Hall here show what can be achieved.

3. Males Of Honour/Best Women

Having spent the last 2 years not being able to see friends and family it's almost like the rule book has been thrown out which can only be a good thing in our eyes. If your best friend happens to be male but you want to include them in your bridal party....why the hell not ? And, of course the same applies to any female friends a groom may have, as pictured here with Ali's best friend Helen being his best woman at Gosfield Hall.

4. Pearls

Timeless elegance and glamour go hand in hand with pearls, whether as beads on your wedding dress or classic jewellery. This one item that has been a part of weddings almost from day one and we doubt that will change any time soon.

5. Close To Home Weddings

Another result of being restricted by the pandemic is many more couples are now ditching the idea of a destination wedding in favour of a more sustainable one close to home. We believe destination weddings will always be an option but think couples will probably look at them in a more intimate fashion and have a big party to celebrate once they return home, rather than flying all their family and friends out for the actual ceremony.

6. Mismatched Bridal Parties

Gone are the days when all your bridesmaids had to be in the exact same dress no matter what their own style, shape or colouring was. These days brides are allowing their bridal party to inject some of their own personality and comfort into the choices made for outfits.

7. Smaller Wedding Bouquets

Bigger is not always better and I know from experience how heavy a large bouquet gets after even a short time holding it. A smaller bouquet can still make a huge impact, and may even allow you to include one or two more expensive blooms without blowing your budget.

8. Colour Popping Wedding Bouquets

With the increase in awareness and preference for sustainability bridal bouquets are full of greenery (again, a very budget friendly option) with just a few classic blooms to add pops of colour.

9. Evening Wedding Mini Dresses

Having been so restrained the last couple of years we expect couples to really want to let their hair down when it comes to their evening reception. Being constrained by a beautiful big dress or long veil is being ditched in favour of a second dress for the evening which allows the bride to really show off her dance moves without having to worry about someone stepping on her veil or spilling their glass of bubbly down her dress.
